Starr Vavrek - Tenor Saxophone / Schuhplattler

Starr

Starr is still our newest star and member of the Swinging Bavarians for 15+ years.  He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and works at Siemens Energy in Orlando, Florida.  He found that he fell in love with the Florida weather and the Florida girls….especially one girl, Krissy.  He has been playing saxophone since he was 12.  He was a member of the Young Razzcals Jazz Project in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Also, Starr played at the Telluride Jazz Festival and has been a member of a number of various groups throughout New Mexico.  During high school, Starr was the drum major for two years.  Starr has been doing solo shows at many senior citizen retirement centers, both working and volunteering.  When not playing the saxophone, you can find Starr practicing his juggling of balls, rings, clubs, or the fruit in the kitchen!  He also loves flying and has had his pilot’s license since he was 16.  Starr caught Krissy’s eyes swing dancing and now he has caught Krissy’s heart.  Now, Krissy caught Starr up in a new type of dancing with a very old theme as the dance of flirting and love called Schuhplattler.    So not only is Starr the star in the Swinging Bavarians German Band, he’s the twinkling star in Krissy’s eyes. Starr is happily married and enjoys their two kids performing with the Swinging Bavarians Kinder Group.
